Toy Fair '08 -- McFarlane confirms no Simpsons items in 2008 |
Lead | |
|
I spoke with a rep at McFarlane's booth at Toy Fair today. He told me that there is no Simpsons item planned for the year at all. He said that they still hold the license and may restart things in 2009, so that doesn't seem likely at all in my opinion.
So that's that, folks. |

If you talk to him again can you tell him that he has ruined 2008 for me.

Eh, there was never much in the last few years in the first place.

McFarlane is such a different companies these days, looking at their 2008 product line up...it seems all they care about is sports and their dragon line. 50 dragons manage to come out a year, but we got a handful of Simpsons product over 2+ years.
They seem to have given up on movie and TV stuff. Oh well, NECA's been beating them at their own game for a while now and I'm fine with giving them more money. |

I'm surprised to hear that McFarlane was even at Toy Fair.

Meh, no big deal for me. The only McFarlane Simpsons stuff I have is the Ironic Punishment set, the Couch Gag set, and the Itchy and Scratchy Cape Feare "Spay Anything" set.
I thought series 1 of their regular figures was fairly "meh" and series 2 wasn't that spectactular-looking either. So yeah, I'm not going to lose sleep over this Although I wish McFarlane had kept making Corpse Bride figures

I wish playmates still had the licence for all SIMPSON FIGURES , McFarlane was at best "ok" i guess loved the halloween collection, but even then the
playmates treehouse collection were far superior, the face there is no sign of anything new in the commimg year is no big suprise simply because McFarlane
seemed to get the contrace just before the MOVIE was to be released & at the time it was a big coup i would imagine, but now the whole thing has died down
i think the attuide is now just "Hmmmmm" not really that bothered, i wish / hope PLAYMATES maybe get the contract back in the not too distant future,
it would no doubt be a warm welcome back to a long lost friend - someone we missed, loved & want to stay with for another many happy eXciting collecting
years to come...
McFarlane have kinda made collecting SIMPSONS a little.....??? dull, boring, ?? or at least their apparent lack of interest doesn't go down too good.... StRaNgE... PS- HI - im new... ;-) |

I've said it before and I'll say it again... if they made figures based on some better episodes/scenes I would've supported it much better.
Let's look at series one:
-Kamp Krusty. Great episode but I dunno if that would've been my choice to represent it. I can't think of what *I* would've chosen. Or maybe I just didn't like the rest of the figures in the series and didn't wanna get just one. -Simple Simpson: an episode that I've seen maybe once, so not interested. -In the Belly of the Boss: I don't think I've ever seen this one (yes, there was a dark period of my life where I just didn't have a big enough interest in the Simpsons to try and watch new episodes) so again, not interested. -Why You Little!...: would've been SO much better if it was just Homer strangling Bart. When has Bart ever strangled back? Like once? Not interested. They could have made much better sets based on much better episodes and scenes. |

Well, I for one am happy to see McFarlane's line end. I was never a fan of their work and they treated the Simpsons like a red-headed stepchild.
PLAYMATES deserves to get the license back! |

I think many of us feel like that. It is hard for me to put my finger on what I disliked about McFarlane's Simpsons merchandise, but somethin' was missing. Kind of like when I found out about Santa. |
