I've read that the time it is released is a mistake because XBOX360 will be able to drop its price sooner, and the Nintendo Wii, which is due out around the same time, will most likely cost less than $250. Depending on the model you get, this system will cost either $500 or $600, which definitely puts a damper on things. the $600 model only has a few things that the cheaper one doesn't. 1. HDMI out (x1/HDMI NextGen) 2. Memory stick/SD/Compact Flash 3. 60Gig hard disk drive (compared to a 20Gig) If anyone knows what the first two things are, I would greatly appreciate an explanation. A mega plus to getting this new playstation is that it is 100% backwards compatible with the PS2 games and even some PS1 games. XBOX360, i think is only compatible with a select few of XBOX's greatest hits. So, what do all you think about PS3?

Basically, unless you have an HDTV, you can't use it. Instead of converting the digital signal from the disc into analog, passing through cables, and then the NDTV re-encoding the signal in digital, it passes a digital signal directly to the TV. This way the picture is a bit cleaner because there are no conversions. Memory sticks are just external storage, similar to the current Memory Cards the PS2 uses (but bigger and useful outside of the Playstation). As for my feelings, way, way too expensive. Yeah, it's nice to get a Blu-Ray player, but I'm waiting for a price drop or three. I have a 360 and will be buying a Wii for the combined price of what the PS3 will cost.

You are getting a huge hardrive, wifi (which you had to pay an extra $100 to get for your xbox 360), a bluray player (though I won't use it for movies, but I am glad games will have plenty of gamespace seeing as it is on bluray). I will definately be buying one, I have an xbox 360 and it's great, and I am probably going to pick up a wii also, but the idea of it seems kinda lame.

One, it's way too expensive. Sure, you can say that it's reasonable for what you're getting, but how much of what you're getting is appealing to a casual gamer? A 60 gig hard drive is bigger than most people will really. I've never really understood the whole need for built in wifi. I'd rather buy the appropiate length of ethernet cable and have it plugged in. It's not like I would travel with it, so it would stay right where I put it most of the time. And as far as Blu-ray goes, did you see how well the whole UMD thing worked for Sony? Secondly, and far more importantly, there aren't any really big exclusives that really appeal to me, although I'm sure there are a lot of people who disagree with me on that one. And as far as the Wii goes, I may end up buying one at launch if Mario ends up being a launch title. Gotta play me some Mario.

My router is upstairs and my TV is downstairs, so running cables is out of the question. I even bought the Wireless thingy for the 360.

So what am i really missing out on if i get the cheaper model? I don't care about the hard drive space or the high definition.

The first shipment of PS3's will sell out easily. Every million units that are 100 less = 100 million less money that is a lot. Microsoft does not need to drop the price to sell units this christmas.

PS3 is rumored to be free, but not confirmed. XBox is not free to play with others online (there is limited free online though).
