Well, at least CT is fast at processing refunds and cancellations. I sent back my Festive Friends #4 and #5. I also told them that I would have been happy to collect the whole population of Springfield, down to the last arcane character, but I didn't see the point in displaying (or alternating) duplicates. *sigh* It would have been so cool to have Flanders' family, and Chief Wiggum in his cop car (you know, as advertised).

Not only that, but make ones that are actually displayable in the village. That is, why make Homer stuck in a half cimney?! Where in the village can that be put?
And semaj nala is right, they are copying the xmas orniments. The Homer in the Chimny is nearly identical to the light up orniment. |

Could there possibly be someone at CT that is starting to get it? My # 5 FF figures are on the way back along with FF # 4. I was at Toysrus the other day pumping quarters into the vending machine to get Simpsons minis. Almost felt like I was at a casino.

The figures from "Gifts of the Season" and "Jolly Good Time" are copies from the illuminated ornaments. "In Your Face, Man" Bart/Milhouse and "Special Delivery" Nelson are the figures from the 9th issue titled, "In Your Face Man" also. "Christmas Bonus" figures are from the 4th issue ornaments of the same name. The "Finishing Touches" Bart and "Ha!! Ha!!" Lisa are taken from 2nd issue ornaments. "Sno-mer Simpson" from "Snow Daze" is also from the 2nd issue. "Fat Chance" Homer is from the 4th issue ornament titled, "Fat Chance."
I guess we just need to continue to look to the ornaments to see what the next figures will be. |

So, as far as the ornaments that could be copied, are their some that could be "new" for us village collectors?

Here's a link to two of the ornaments that they copied the figures.
"Slippity-Doh! Da" has the same Lisa and "Sno-mer Simpson" has the Bart & Homer they copied. Bradford Ornaments |

(Accidentally posted in the wrong place the first time. I'll try again)
Just got these today. At first I thought they had screwed up and sent me another "Gifts Of The Season"(as I had sent that one back). But no, this is a new set. With this one we get another Homer (dragging a Christmas Tree), a sleigh with Bart, Maggie, Lisa, and SLH, and ANOTHER Bart pointing his finger as something. I guess this one will be going back too. Got mine today as well and packaged them right back up
And if I may make a suggestion, Jeremy, I think the SCS should let CT know that Simpson collectors enjoy variety, possibly explained in a polite but critical letter. I plan to submit one myself as an individual buyer, but I think a group letter would have more clout. There were actually two Bart's in this one package! Enough already! gusbanks: Curator, Simpsonian Institute

This looked so good at the begining, but its now ...not good! I was actually going to get this village, but now (from what I've heard) it kinda sucks.

Quote: Where did you hear that? I think the negative comments have been related to the "Festive Freinds" series, which is a seperate (but related) series in which you can buy little figures to go with the Village buildings. I have no doubt they will send you a replacement. If they refuse, tell them about all the lines you subscribe to. If that doesn't work, threaten to cancel them. If all else fails, lmk. I have an extra one and would be happy to send it to you.

Well, thanks for the advice. I started the process-- with an email. Next step would be the dreaded phone call. You know, the one where I waste 20 minutes trying to explaing which line I am talking about (even though I have the item number).
After that, if I still don't have one, I would love to take you up on your offer DHAC-- just name your price (well it's gotta be less than $66). HM |

Re: Simpsons Christmas Village | ||

Put my village up this weekend and thought I'd share a few photos. This is with every piece released to date including all 7 figure sets. Still might send some figures back, but they look pretty good spread throughout the village. Just would still like to have a few different characters...or maybe at least a 2nd Marge.
The light sculptures in the front yard are from Wal-Mart and I think add to Flanders great display. The wood piles next to the 2 houses, the fence, and the trees are also from Wal-Mart. The snow base and the snow that is sprinkled throughout is from Target. I think these extra pieces really make the village that much better. One of my street lights has already burnt out (aren't LED lights supposed to last like forever) and one of my powerplant green lights also was burnt out. I had to go buy a new one and have tried 4 different shades of green and none compare to the green that came with it, which I think was THE color of green needed for the powerplant. Oh well...I had to substitute a slightly darker green in both towers but it still looks ok. Hope you all enjoy. I also put my train pictures up on that thread. pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/herbieatthedub/album?.dir=/ad97 |

Nice looking village herbie. I'm going to put mine up this weekend. I counted, and i am up to 17 now. How many more are left, and are they going to make more. I personally hope they quit this line, not because i don't like it, just because i'm running low on funds. We've all invested a small fortune into these things(around $1300). It pains me to say this, but if they keep continuing making these i will be forced to cancel my subscription
