Ok, I am sure this topic is buried somewhere in the 41 page Wii thread, but I was not about to search for it.
So, I got a Wii as a b-day present over the weekend and was looking on Craigslist for games. I ran across a couple of post where guys are offering to
"mod" wii's. I was wondering if anyone on here has a done this to their wii's and what are the benifits/downsides of having this process
done?
The benefits would be obvious (and not really kosher with our rules here, so just google for some board dedicated to that kind of stuff.) The disadvantages are
that you can't update the system software (or you can't update without breaking the "mod") and if you load an update from a game in a
different region (e.g. you load an update from a PAL game onto your NTSC Wii) you could "brick" your Wii; which basically means it's as useful as
a brick.
Yeah, Not worth it IMO. If you really want to play import games that badely, Import a Wii console. If you want to do naughty stuff, well I hope your console
bricks.
