And I guess that creepy lady that visited Desmond in his earlier time travel episode, and talked to Ben last week, is Faraday's mother... that should be an interesting meeting once Des manages to track her down.

Well, we got an answer for one question tonight at least- now we know why Alpert visited Locke as a child, and wanted him to choose the compass as an item that
was already his.

I totally guessed that he was Charles.. and it makes a lot of sense that he is. I wonder when Ben came around did he kick Charles out or was he banished
beforehand?
And bye bye Charlotte

Interesting episode. I'll be curious to see how Widmore went from being just another flunkie on the island to a bajillionaire off the island.

Another great episode last week. It looked to me like Ben didn't realize Hawking was Faraday's mother. He seemed like he was surprised but trying not
to show it when Desmond mentioned it. I wonder what the rest of the story is there.

While Jack was in the old lady's office, he was standing in front of a bookcase or desk and there was (what looked like) a DVD case standing upright on the
counter over his shoulder.. did anyone record the ep? Can you make out what it was?
I got the impression it was one of those silly clues you were supposed to notice. |

I don't know, I didn't notice it.
So this episode surprised me, I did not think for a second they would be back to the island so fast. I assume the rest of this season now will have island stuff cut with flashbacks explaining everything that was skipped last night. Maybe. I for one would at least like to know how Hurley and Sayid ended up on the plane, what happened to Aaron, and what happened to Ben. The episode implied that Ben went after Penny, so he could fulfill his promise to Widmore and kill her before heading back to the island, but I think that's too obvious something else must've happened. From the ending I guess we can assume when Locke fixed the wheel, the island got stuck in the 70s during the time of the Dharma Initiative. That would conveniently explain why this season's opener had a shot of Faraday in a DI jumpsuit also, and how he was able to tell Charlotte as a child never to return to the island. I kind of wonder how this will all end now, is the goal for them to get unstuck in time and back to the current timeline now? If they stay in the 70s for too long chances are good that Young Ben will kill them all when kills the rest of the DI. I hope Frank ended up on the island somehow. He was a great character, and it'll be hilarious to see the reactions if he runs in to Faraday and Miles on the island. |

A few random thoughts:
Hawking claimed the Island was always moving, but Dharma figured out the pattern. I'm thinking the hatch and entering the numbers was keeping the Island in place. In other words, the organized release of Electromagnetic energy every 108 minutes kept the Island from moving. The beauty of that is it expalins how Dharma always knew where it was, and the EM pulse that Penny's crew detected was the Island jumping. Then after that, the Others lost communication because the Island wasn't where things had been calibrated for it to be at... Did the O5 jumpback to the time the rest of the Oceanic 815's ended up after Locke "fixed" the wheel (say 1980)? If so that explains the white light. But could that mean that Ben ended up back on the timeline with the Others (we don't know "when" they are but they clearly aren't moving through time like the O815ers), and the plane landed/crashed in 2007? Could Kate be pregnant, from the last night tryst with Jack? Assuming certain conditions needed to be repeated, she could replace Claire the way the law enforcement type with Sayid replaced the Marshall. I assume Aaron is with Sawyer's child, whom Kate knew about and helped out. I like the metaphor of Locke filling Christian's shoes - probably wont be the last time? How likely is it that the Ocenaic815ers cause "The Incident" and break into the frozen donkey wheel chamber again. |

Aaron is probably with Claire's Mum, which is the right thing to do

I also thought that getting back to the island was too easy. Last year when Ben left he said he could never go back, Charles Widmore has been trying to find
the island for years, but they both know where to find a woman in LA with a DHARMA station with a freakin' road map to the island?!?
Also, the notion that Locke had to die makes no sense to me. If the idea was to replicate the conditions of the original crash, I would think a live Locke would be a lot more valuable, since he was alive on the original flight. They could have heisted any dead body if it was so important for Jack to bring a substitute for his father.

Was anybody else thinking when Jack put the shoes on Locke's feet, he was gonna re-animate instantaneously? I do like the re-cap show @ 8, leading up to
the new ep.

This show has quickly jumped to my second favorite show. I only hope the Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Juliet love quadrangle doesn't get too soap-opery. Can't wait
for Locke to say "hi" to Ben.

Wow! It's neat to see all the Othertown sets looking spiffy and new. I think it's great that Sawyer and Juliet got together. It's cool that Jin speaks English really well now. 3 years is plenty of time to learn. Also, it looks like the reason Jin was able to bust Charlotte for speaking Korean may be that he's the one who teaches her how in the first place! Interesting that everyone is 3 years ahead now. I had been thinking that Jack and company were going to arrive back and find out that everyone on the island thought they just left even though it had been 3 years for them. Locke owes Ben an extra special death. Should be an interesting showdown. Who knows, maybe since he believed his death was part of the master plan, he won't even mind Ben killing him. I've really come to rely on the reruns they show before the new episodes to get the factoids. I totally hadn't gotten that the Ajira plane crashed on the secondary island. There's a rumor that Kate may not survive the season, as Evangeline Lilly has apparently been auditioning for pilots for other shows for next year.

This season has been really all over the place, but I like where it's going I think. Tonight's episode was great. I would gladly watch the Locke &
Ben show every week, so I'm really glad we finally got back to them. Actually, I'm really curious about what's going on with those other plane
surviors now... it always bothered me that they didn't seem particularly upset to have crashed on a random island, and then tonight they were all kind of
crazy. It seems like at some of them were selected to go to the island. By who, I don't know. If I had to guess I'd say Ben because I don't know
that Widmore could've figured out what was going on in time to get some of his people on the plane.

Yea, my guess is either that a) they're working for Widmore, or b) they've been infected by the 'sickness'.

I agree, they are working for Widmore - he did know where Eloise was, and she was the one who told them how to get back - maybe Widmore knew enough to
piggyback onto their return trip.
Interesting Charles was still an Other through the Purge - then they found out he had a "double" life on the outside and expelled him. If Penny was not known to the Others and was born off Island, that means Charles had been wandering off Island back to the early 70's (Penny must be 35 in show years at least). So could Charles have help start Dharma and been an Other - figuring in either case he would get control of the Island? Did he encourage the purge once Dharma had been somewhat successful with the goal of taking over the remnants of the DI? Locke point blank asked if Ben had chosen to take over the barracks - but Ben didn't answer, maybe it wasn't him, but Charles? |
