Sorry that's my wife's birthday weekend. We are going on the 17th for sure. Any reports on the Hollywood ride being open yet?

Everybody going on the 17th may want to check out Universal's website. It has the
opening of the Simpsons Ride on May 19th. Just looking out for you. |

Bad news guys! I called Universal and they confirmed that the ride was not opening until next Monday (no soft openings or annual pass specials). I can't go
on Memorial Day weekend so how's about one of the following weekends (May 31 or June 7)?

So I went, and I got the pass so I can most likely go bak on the 7th.
In all honesty I wasn't THAT impressed with the ride. It was a little dis-orienting at times but a fun story. I liked the set-up clips that you see while waiting in the last two phases of the line. I waited about 45 minutes and that wasn't too bad, but if I had to wait 2 hours I would have been disappointed. The Kwik-E-Mart was neat, some merchandise there I hadn't seen before and a couple of Universal Themed items. I bought two shirts, a half-pint glass (either that, or it's a very large shot glass... like a 4-shot) and a Duff energy drink. Here's the few pics I took. (I forgot my camera so they're all cell-phone pics.)

They aren't closing off anything outside the park so you'll be able to enjoy that
 Also, they say the park will open at noon today (but if the
winds shift the smoke into the park they may decide against that.) I would stay away because the smoke it very toxic right now (lots of plastics and stuff
being burned in the video vault.)
Three minor injuries only. So far the following are gone, completely destroyed by the fire: New York Street (famous outdoor set used for shows like Seinfeld and countless commercials and movies) Courthouse Square (Back to the Future set) King Kong building They are currently working on the video vault building, but they say nothing that has been lost is irreplaceable. |

Hey guys, had a chance to check out the simpsons ride today. Kinda cool. All the little show references throughout were great. I went in with low expectations
and found the ride to be pretty fun. If you liked the Back to the Future ride that used to be there, you're gonna like this. Its basically the same set up
but with simpsons everywhere. I took a few pics I thought I'd share here. Let me know what you think!
First is the aftermath of the weekend fire. Nasty. Looks like a set.

A couple of shots of the inside right before they tell you to put the cameras away..... 
A couple of exterior shots of the kwik e mart/android's dungeon/moe's tavern (gift shop) area..... 
(I was sad cause it was closed  )
And lastly, there is an area right by the exit where the simpson family hangs so you can take some pictures. They were pretty wild. My friend put her purse down and homer and bart started rummaging through it. They even pulled out her disney pass from the wallet and walked around shaking their heads. It was fun. Here's a pic, I think they liked my shirt. 
All in all, I had a great time today. Park was empty. I don't know if it was the fire, or just the fact that universal is always a little empty, but the line for the ride didn't reach past 10 minutes. It's a must see for any simpsons fan.

I got a question for you people....How is the ride layed out seat wise? I'm a tall and big guy and wanted to know what issues I might have with leg/stomach
room and so on? Is there seat belts or what? I hope to make the trip within the year. Just curious. I usually can judge if I can fit by reading Mick
Foley's books and see what rides he can go on lol.

There is one of those mechanical lap bars like you find on some rollercoasters. I think there were two to a row (4 people per row). I found it to be a bit snug
but I'm pretty sure it has different levels or notches so it should be able to accomodate you. There isn't really so much motion that the person next
to you would feel at risk if it didn't come down all the way.

stomach suckying powers of homer as he was about to get on the bus to go to the super bowl, so that will help

You should be fine, they weren't too overzealous. It's not as if the ride moves around THAT much.
Ken, I'll email you. I got clearance to go for a bit on Saturday so I can meet you there for a bit.
